HE is LOVE

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (1 John 4:8)

Our most basic human need is to feel loved. In feeling loved and making other people feel loved we encounter the person of God.

It’s not that God is loving; he is love itself.

When we feel love and we give love we are experiencing the actual presence of God.

Whether I’m loving my children or feeling loved God himself is with me. In every way that I experience love I will remember I am in your presence!

…love one another; as I have loved youBy this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. (John 13:34-35)

When I read this devotion it blessed me and I felt it needed to be shared. What an incredible reminder about love, He is love. The best way to find love is to find God.

No Good Thing will He Withhold

For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. (Psalm 84:11)

Perhaps you are filled with such disappointment that you have taken a few steps backward. Will you let go of the one thing today, in order to receive back from the Lord what His grace has ready for you? Will you remember who God is and all He promises for you even in the midst of loss? Therein is the need for surrender. Don’t waste another minute.

Remember the truth that “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

By His grace He will flood you with His power and faith for every storm. You can know that “The Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11).

As I was reading the Bible this morning I came across this setting of scripture and it blessed me. I knew I had to share it. I pray you are uplifted and encouraged by this devotion today. Psalm 84:12 goes on to say, O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord! Is there any better promise than this? If I trust Him, I will be blessed. All I can say is THANK YOU! I trust the Lord Almighty so I can rest in knowing that He will bless me. These blessings may not always look like the world’s definition of “blessed” but without doubt, God will bless me. His Word says so!

Tick-tock Tick-Tock

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24)

The older I get, the faster time seems to tick away. I often find myself thinking there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything finished. Our culture seems to idolize busyness and measures success on how many events you can cram into your calendar.

I used to be so busy that the only way I could establish a boundary with work was by putting at least 100 miles between my desk and me. I decided to commit to a spiritual retreat each year just to rejuvenate, relax, and reconnect to my Heavenly Father. And then, slowly, God impressed on my heart that I don’t need to travel out of state to reconnect. I can have a little retreat with Him every morning through my quiet time.

The enemy will tell you there isn’t enough time for God. The enemy will try and steal the joy that comes from those few minutes with God each morning.

The truth is when you take those first few minutes to spend with God, your entire day will be blessed…you lose nothing, and gain everything!!

I love this devotion! It blessed me. What truth! I pray you are encouraged to have a little retreat with Him every morning, why, because like today’s devotion says, “you lose nothing and gain everything”. One of the best gifts we can give ourselves is time alone with God because time spent alone with God is never wasted. Spending time with God puts everything else in perspective.

Receive Without Asking Why

Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not. (John 9:12)

We always want the “why.”

Somehow loss or trauma seem easier if there’s someone to blame.

It was the disciples themselves asking who had caused the man’s blindness.

The Pharisees response to the healing was confrontation and anger.

They demanded to know from the healed man and his parents who dared to perform a miracle (work) on the Sabbath. (John 9:16)

The man’s parents were frightened of trouble with the Pharisees and would not speak of the miracle (John 9:23)

The only person who rightly received this wonder was the man himself.

“Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes!” (John 9:30)

  • The man didn’t stop and ask himself if he deserved the healing.
  • He didn’t consider if the people around him approved of the healing.
  • He simply marveled at the goodness of Jesus and received the blessing!

Help me receive the healing goodness that you have for me – Let me marvel at your goodness, power, and love!!!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:6)

This devotion blessed me and I wanted to share it with you. I pray after reading this you are encouraged to receive everything He has for you without continually asking why. Dare to Trust Him. God hands us situations, circumstances and opportunities where we have to practice trusting in Him. You may not see it at the time, but God knows what He’s doing. It’s not random, it’s a part of His plan.
